2011年に各国で開催される「LANXESS Rubber Day」の皮切りとして、技術シンポジウムおよび展示会、レセプションがデュッセルドルフにて開催されました。「次世代のモビリティ・イノベーション」のスローガンの下、多分野にわたって行われたこのシンポジウムは、2009年にランクセスが開催したシンポジウムのフォローアップイベントとなり、「タイヤとイノベーション」に焦点を当てた内容となりました。当日は、ゴム加工業界および自動車産業界の顧客、国・地方政治家、EU、メディアを対象に招待制で行われました。
「次世代のモビリティーのソリューション」をテーマにしたパネルディスカッショには、ノルトライン・ヴェストファーレン州の経済・エネルギー・建築・ 住宅・交通大臣である、ハリー=クルト・フォイクツベルガー氏をご招待しました。フォイクツベルガー氏はブリュッセルで開催されたランクセスのイベントで次のように述べています。「…私達は、常に新しいことに挑戦しなければなりません。しかし、それには、ランクセスのような革新的な企業のサポートなしには実現は不可能です。」
Post Gazette紙の論説記事でアクセル・ハイトマンは、次のように述べています。「未来の世代は、タイヤ、薬栓、チューインガムなどにも使用されるゴムが持続可能な資源から作られる世界で暮らしているでしょう。」
また、シンポジウムでは、ブチルラバービジネスユニットの責任者であるロン・コマンダーとGevo社のCEOであるパトリック・グルーバ氏は、「共にエコ未来に向かって」のテーマで議論を行いました。
「EUが、ドイツ政府のサポートによりタイヤのラベリング制度を導入するという先見性は、環境政策が消費者にメリットをもたらすと同時に経済を活況にするという好例です。」とハイトマンは述べています。また、当日は専門家による「タイヤのラベリング制度、エネルギー効率と性能」に関するパネルデイスカッションも行われました。

The Minister of Economy of North Rhine-Westphalia, Harry K. Voigtsberger, underlined the importance of the cooperation between economy and politics in order to master the challenges of tomorrow’s mobility.
